Sable V6-183 3.0L DOHC VIN S MFI (1997)
3. Remove wheel hub from rear wheel spindle.
4. Remove parking brake rear cable and conduit from parking brake lever.
5. Remove two brake shoe hold-down springs and brake shoe hold-down spring pins.

6. Lift rear brake shoes and linings and adjuster assembly off rear brake backing plate and rear wheel cylinder assembly.
NOTE: Be careful not to bend brake shoe adjusting lever during assembly and removal.
7. Remove brake shoe retracting springs from lower brake shoe and lining attachments and upper shoe-to-adjusting lever attachment points. This will
separate rear brake shoes and linings and disengage adjuster mechanism.
8. Remove horseshoe parking brake lever pin retainer and spring washer. Remove from trailing shoe.
9. Inspect break adjuster screw threads for nicks, burrs and freedom of movement. If brake shoe adjusting screw socket is frozen, it must be replaced.
10. Check springs for spread or collapsed coils, twisted, bent or damaged shanks and discoloration, which is a sign of brake overheating. Overheated
springs lose some of their tension and should be replaced.
