Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

CAUTION:

Component Location/Orientation
The location and orientation of each precision machined component should be noted. When engine is assembled each component should be
installed in its original position. These components include:
-

Rocker arms, rocker arm seats and valve tappets.

-

Camshafts and camshaft journals.

REMOVAL

1. Remove rocker arms.
2. Remove valve tappets from cylinder heads.
3. Inspect valve tappets. Replace as required.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Make sure valve tappets are installed in their original locations.

1. Lubricate valve tappets with Engine Assembly Lubricant D9AZ-19579-D or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C80-A and install

valve tappets to cylinder heads.

2. Install rocker arms and valve covers.
