Topaz V6-182 3.0L (1992)
Removal
1. Remove A-pillar and B-pillar garnish mouldings.
2. Cycle shoulder belt retainer full forward.
3. Disconnect electrical switch connectors at A- and B-pillars.
4. Remove plug button from shoulder belt anchor cover.
5. Remove Torx(R) head screw retaining shoulder belt anchor to shoulder belt retainer and disconnect shoulder belt anchor.
6. Remove two screws retaining drive belt track to motor.
7. Remove one screw, adjacent to motor, retaining vertical drive belt guide.
8. Carefully disconnect drive belt track from motor, allowing belt to pass by gear teeth without engagement.
9. Remove screw from A-pillar bracket to A-pillar.
10. Remove two bolts retaining track assembly to B-pillar.
11. Remove two screws retaining track assembly to inner roof rail.
12. Remove screws from overhead track retaining clips.
13. Disengage vertical guide release tab at B-pillar bracket.
14. Rotate track inboard to remove track limit switch retaining tab from slot in A-pillar.
15. Slide drive belt out of vertical guide.
4 Door Models
Installation
1. Insert drive belt in vertical guide.
2. Insert retaining tab on limit switch bracket into slot in A-pillar.
3. Engage vertical guide retaining tab into B-pillar bracket.
4. Install two retaining bolts at B-pillar. Tighten to 23-33 Nm (16-24 lb-ft).
5. Install screws in overhead track retaining clips.
6. Install screw retaining A-pillar switch bracket to A-pillar.
7. Position drive belt guide at motor. Align drive belt and guides as required to ensure no binding prior to installing two screws.
8. Install shoulder belt bolt. Tighten to 11-16 Nm (8-12 lb-ft). Install plug button.
9. Connect electrical connectors.
10. Check system operation.
11. Install garnish mouldings.
12. Install front seat shoulder belt track to the track assembly as follows:
a. Return shoulder belt track carrier to B-pillar.
b. Pull the belt from the retractor on the console. Allow belt to lay flat across the seatback, with no twist.
c. Install shoulder belt to track assembly by locating anti-rotation pin in strap carrier and aligning it with notch in belt anchor.
d. Install Torx(R) head retaining bolt. Tighten to 11-16 Nm (8-12 lb-ft).
NOTE: When the shoulder belt is returned to the A-pillar, there should be a half-twist in the belt.
13. Check for proper operation of passive restraint system.
14. Install quarter trim panel.
