Alignment: Service Precautions
NOTE: Prior to disconnecting battery, record pre-set radio frequencies.
DISARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Wait at least 10 minutes for air bag diagnostic monitor backup power supply to deplete.
3. Remove two bolts attaching driver's air bag module to steering wheel.
4. Disconnect driver's air bag module electrical connector.
5. Place driver's air bag module in a safe location with pad side facing upward.
6. Connect Air Bag Simulator T94P-50-A, or equivalent, to driver's air bag module vehicle harness connector.
7. Connect battery ground cable.
ARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Wait at least 10 minutes for air bag diagnostic monitor backup power supply to deplete.
3. Remove air bag simulator from driver's air bag connector.
4. Connect driver's air bag connector to air bag module.
5. Install driver air bag module to steering wheel. Torque retaining screws to 11-18 ft lb.
6. Connect battery ground cable.
7. Prove out system as follows:
a. Cycle ignition switch from OFF to RUN and visually monitor air bag indicator.
b. Air bag indicator should light continuously for approximately seven seconds, then go out.
NOTE: After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, abnormal drive conditions may be present while the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 or more miles to relearn the strategy.
