Villager Battery Negative Post Inspection and Repair

Affected Vehicles
Certain 1997 and 1998 Villagers produced at the Ohio Assembly Plant from August 28, 1997 through September 24, 1997.

Inspection

Inspect the battery build code stamped on the top of the battery between the positive and negative posts. Using a small screwdriver or other light
prybar, gently pry back the battery cover to expose the build code. See Figure 1.

The following is the list of affected battery build codes (xxx being a variable)

If the vehicle has an affected battery, proceed to Battery and Negative Cable Replacement procedure. If not, release the vehicle.

MINUTES AND GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION. IF ACID IS SWALLOWED, CALL A PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY.
