Axle Bearing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Remove the front wheel driveshaft and joint.
2. Use Boot Clamp Pliers D87P-1090-A, or equivalent, to remove the small front wheel driveshaft joint boot clamp and the large front wheel

driveshaft boot clamp on the inboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot. Discard the boot clamps.

3. Slide the outer race off the halfshaft.

4. Clean out the grease from the inboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot and the outer race.

5. Clamp the halfshaft in a vise and remove the front wheel dust shield from the halfshaft, using a dull punch and hammer.
