11. Rotate the inner race up and out of the cage.
ASSEMBLY
1. Install the inner race into the cage.
NOTE: The front wheel driveshaft joint components are matched during manufacturing and cannot be interchanged with components from
another front wheel driveshaft joint. Do not mix or substitute like components between front wheel driveshaft joints.
2. Install the inner race and cage assembly into the outer race.
NOTE: Make sure the beveled edge of the inner race faces out.
3. Install the assembly vertically and pivot 90 degrees into position.
4. Align the cage window and the outer race with the outer race land.
5. Tilt the inner race and cage and install a ball bearing.
6. Continue to tilt the inner race and cage until all six ball bearings have been installed.
7. Install the outboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot, if removed.
NOTE: Make sure that the halfshaft splines have been wrapped with tape before installing the outboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot.
8. Install the stop ring, if removed.
9. Install a new circlip.
10. Pack the outboard front wheel driveshaft joint and front wheel driveshaft joint boot with 175-195 grams (6.17-6.88 ounces) of Constant Velocity
Joint Grease, or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESP-M1C187-A.
11. Position the outboard front wheel driveshaft joint on the halfshaft and tap into position using a soft-faced hammer.
NOTE: The front wheel driveshaft joint is fully seated when the circlip locks in the groove cut into the inner race.
12. Position the front wheel driveshaft joint boot over the outboard front wheel driveshaft joint. Ensure that the front wheel driveshaft joint boot is
fully seated in the halfshaft grooves and the outer race.
13. Insert a dulled screwdriver blade between the outboard front wheel driveshaft joint boot and the outer race to allow trapped air to escape.
14. Use Boot Clamp Pliers D87P-1090-A, or equivalent, to install the small front wheel driveshaft joint boot clamp and the large front wheel
driveshaft joint boot clamp on the front wheel driveshaft joint boot. Wrap the clamps clockwise around the front wheel driveshaft joint boots and
pull tight with pliers.
CAUTION: Tighten the boot clamps securely but not to the point where the boot clamp bridge is cut or where damage to the front wheel
driveshaft joint boot could occur.
15. Install the front wheel driveshaft and joint.
