SUBJECT
Scratched Rear Side Window

MODEL
R52 (MINI Convertible) produced up to 2/06

SITUATION
The customer may complain of a scratched rear side window.

CAUSE
Dust particles can enter inside the C-pillar seal and scratch the rear side window during operations.

CORRECTION
In case of a customer complaint, replace only the affected rear side window and C-pillar seal.

Improved C-pillar seals have been implemented in production since 2/06.

PROCEDURE

1.

Replace the rear side window per Repair Instructions RA 51 37 171.

2.

Replace the C-pillar seal per Repair Instructions RA 54 34 343.

3.

Check convertible top adjustments and gaps per Repair Instructions RA 54 34 100.

4.

Use a feeler gage (1) to check the gap between the bottom of C-pillar and outer finisher. This gap should be between 0.5 mm  2.5 mm.

5.

Check adjustment of rear side window per Repair Instruction RA 51 32 154.51 32 154.
