PRELOAD
Bearing preload is pre-set to specified value by design and therefore cannot be adjusted.

END PLAY ADJUSTMENT

1.

Inspect play of bearings while vehicle is jacked up and resting on floor jack.

2.

Remove hub cap, then release parking brake.

3.

Remove caliper assembly and brake disc, then measure bearing end play.

4.

Placing dial gauge against hub surface, move hub in axial direction and check for end play.

5.

End play should be 0.004 inch or less, if greater, the lock nut should be tightened to specification and end play measured again.

6.

Replace rear hub bearing unit if an adjustment cannot be made to within limit.
