Active Exhaust System Mode Switch: Testing and Inspection
Muffler Mode Switch Circuit
To test the muffler mode changeover switch located in the instrument cluster, use the following procedures.
COMPONENT TEST
1. Disconnect the muffler mode changeover switch harness connector.
2. Using an Ohm meter, check for continuity between the switch terminals 2 and 3 while moving switch from "ON" to "OFF".
Continuity
Should exist when "ON"
Continuity
Should not exist when "OFF"
HARNESS TEST
1. Disconnect the muffler mode changeover switch harness connector, and turn "ON" the ignition.
2. Using an Ohm meter, measure the supply voltage between muffler mode changeover switch harness connector terminal 3 and ground.

3. Using an Ohm meter, check for continuity between muffler mode changeover switch harness connector terminal 2 and ground.
Continuity
Should exist
If any of the previous tests produce unsatisfactory results, the harness or switch will need to be repaired or replaced. Once repairs have been
completed, confirm that the repair has corrected the problem.
If the trouble returns, it is possible that there is an intermittent failure of the component or the ECU. Check for looseness at all harness junctions and
test for an intermittent failure.
