PURPOSE
This bulletin provides a service manual supplement for cylinder head bolt, main bearing bolt, and connecting rod nut installation on all 1992-96 MMSA
(Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc.) vehicles. To ensure proper assembly of the engine, it is extremely important to use correct bolt and nut
tightening information.
If engine bolt and nut tightening information is missing from the service manual or engine overhaul manual, refer to this bulletin as a supplement. When
conflicting torque information is found in the service and/or overhaul manuals, use this bulletin.

Installation of Cylinder Head Bolts
Two types of cylinder head bolts are used on the engines of 1992-96 vehicles: non-elastic and elastic. Before installing either type of bolt lightly coat
each bolt's threads with clean engine oil, and make sure the bolt threads in the block are clean.
NOTE:
Designations such as "Turbo,"" Non-Turbo," "SOHC," and "DOHC" are only used if these items cause variation to the torque information of the
engine.
Non-Elastic Cylinder Head Bolts
The following models use non-elastic cylinder head bolts:
