Perform the operation check for shift lever assembly after it has been assembled.

1. Check to ensure that the force required for moving the shift lever in the shifting direction (a) is less than 4 Nm (0.9 lbs).
2. Move the shift lever in the selecting direction (b), and check to see that it is returned smoothly to the neutral position by the return spring when

released.

3. Move the shift lever in the arrow direction (c) with the lever A locked, and check to ensure that it has no play in that direction.
4. Check to ensure that the lever A has no play in the arrow direction (d).
5. Check to ensure that the lever B has no play in the arrow direction (e).
