The number of turns in each direction is not equal and/ or the total number of turns is not as specified: USE REPAIR PROCEDURE "C".

REPAIR PROCEDURE "A"

(Starion - Truck - Cordia/Tredia Models)

1.

Remove horn cover, then remove the steering wheel nut and using a puller (see Service Manual) loosen the steering wheel on the steering column
shaft but do not remove the steering wheel completely at this point

2.

Align the chalk marks which indicate the straight ahead driving position and then remove the steering wheel completely. Use care not to move the 
steering column shaft during this step.

3.

Install the steering wheel in a straight position. Again use care not to move the steering column shaft when first placing the steerng wheel onto the
splines.

4.

Tighten the steering wheel nut to the specified torque and reinstall the horn cover.

REPAIR PROCEDURE "B"

(Starion and Truck Models)

1.

Place the vehicle on alignment equipment.

2.

Disconnect the relay rod from the steering gear pitman arm.

3.

Rotate the steering wheel from lock to lock and note the total number of turns.

4.

From either the left or the right lock position, turn the steering wheel half the number of total turns. (This places the steering gear into a center
position.) Hold the steering gear in this position by locking the steering wheel.

5.

Reconnect the relay rod to the pitman arm without moving the pitman arm from its locked position.

6.

Adjust toe-in and if necessary the length of the tie rods as outlined in the respective Service Manuals:

Starion:

Group 2, Page 8

Truck:

Group 2, Page 12-13

7.

Check and adjust the steering angles of the front wheels as outlined in the respective Service Manuals:

Starion:

Group 19, Page 12-13

Truck:

Group 2, Page 13

8.

Road test the vehicle, determine the position of the steering wheel and correct if necessary as outlined in REPAIR PROCEDURE "A".

REPAIR PROCEDURE "C"

(Cordia/Tredia Models)

1.

Place the vehicle on alignment equipment.

2.

Service and adjust toe-in as outlined in the Cordia/Tredia Service Manual: Group 2, Page 10.

3.

Check steering angles of the front wheels and adjust as necessary as outlined in the Cordia/Tredia Service Manual: Group 19, Page 19-10 and
Group 2, Page 2-10.

4.

Road test the vehicle and determine the position of the steering wheel and correct if necessary as outlined in REPAIR PROCEDURE "A".
