INTRODUCTION This bulletin presents a procedure for setting idle speed in "DRIVE" to optimize idle quality with the air conditioner "ON." The
procedure, which applies to 1984 2.0L Cordia and Tredia models, is as follows:

ADJUST CURB IDLE TO SPECIFICATIONS
1.

With engine at normal operating temperature, all lights, accessories, and engine cooling fan OFF, transmission in PARK, parking brake applied,
and front wheels straight ahead to avoid any load on the power steering pump, check idle speed and adjust it if necessary to the specifications in
the table below.

ADJUSTING FOR OPTIMUM IDLE QUALITY
1.

Turn the A/C "ON" and switch the blower to high speed. Shift into "DRIVE" and adjust idle speed to 630 - 650 RPM.

WARNING
For your safety when adjusting idle speed in "DRIVE," be sure an assistant in the drivers seat has both the service brakes and the parking brake
applied firmly.

2.

Turn the A/C "OFF," shift into "PARK" and confirm that idle speed is within the specified range. If not, recheck all basic items, i.e. ignition timing
, idle mixture, valve lash, etc. and then readjust idle as in step #1.
