Cordia L4-2.0L SOHC (1984)

On 1984-85 models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove yoke plug locknut, then the yoke plug using tool MB990607 or equivalent.
b. Remove support yoke, yoke spring and rubber spring from gearbox.

On 1986-87 models, proceed as follows:
a. Loosen pinion housing assembly locknut using tool MB991013 or equivalent, then separate pinion housing assembly and cylinder assembly.
When separating the two assemblies, use caution grooved pin in pinion housing assembly does not fall.
b. Uncrimp cylinder assembly using a suitable tool, then remove end housing assembly from cylinder assembly using tool MB991145 or
equivalent. When removing end housing assembly, use caution not to damage O-ring on end housing assembly.
c. Remove oil seal from end housing assembly and cylinder housing assembly using a suitable screwdriver. When removing oil seal, use
caution not to damage end housing or cylinder housing.
d. Remove valve housing assembly from pinion housing assembly.
e. Remove oil seal and bearing from valve housing assembly using suitable tool.
f.
Loosen pinion housing assembly locknut, then remove rack support cover using tool MB990607-01 or equivalent.
g. Remove spring, cushion rubber, and rack support.
h. Remove pinion housing assembly end plug, then the pinion self locking nut, pinion and pinion plug from pinion housing assembly.
i.
Remove pinion housing assembly lower bearing using a suitable tool.
j.
Remove pinion housing assembly oil seal together with upper bearing.
