Reinstall the pressure hose and nut.
Make sure the indentation of the hose connector contacts the pump guide bracket. Tighten the nut 24 N-m (17 ft.lbs.).

Bleed the system. Refer to pages 37A-18 and 19 of the service manual for bleeding instructions.

CAUTION:

Failure to bleed all air from the system will lead to abnormal system noise (hammering) and possible damage to power steering components.

Procedure # 5: Replacing the EPS or NPS Gear Box Valve

1.

Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to page 37A-18 of the service manual for draining instructions.

2.

Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to page 15-6 of the service manual for a diagram of the front exhaust pipe removal.

3.

Remove the power steering gear box assembly. Refer to the diagram for parts removal sequence.

CAUTION:

Before removing the steering gear box assembly, center the front wheels and remove the ignition key from the vehicle. Failure to do so may
