Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection
Ignition Wire Inspection
1.
Visually inspect the ignition wires for:
- Insulation or boots swelling or breaking down (due to fuel, oil or grease).
- Terminal ends corroding, cracked or loose.
Ignition Wire Resistance Test

Using an ohmmeter, measure spark plug wire resistance between ends.
Acceptable Resistance:
Approx 7 k - 10 k ohms per foot, (not to exceed 30 k ohms per wire).
- Replace the wire if it fails the above test.
