damage the SRS clock spring. This may render the SRS inoperative, risking serious injury to the vehicle's occupants.
4.
With the steering gear box assembly on a flat surface, remove the EPS or NPS steering gear valve.
5.
Install the new EPS or NPS steering gear valve. Tighten the valve's retaining bolts 22 N-m (16 ft.lbs.).
CAUTION:
Do not over-tighten the retaining bolts.
6.
Reinstall the power steering gear box assembly, utilizing the fastener tightening torques shown in the illustration.
7.
Reinstall the front exhaust pipe. Refer to page 15-6 of the service manual for a diagram of the front exhaust pipe installation.
8.
Re-fill the power steering reservoir with Dexron II. Do not use Diamond ATF SP.
9.
Bleed the system. Refer to pages 37A-18 and 19 of the service manual for bleeding instructions.
CAUTION:
Failure to bleed all air from the system will lead to abnormal system noise (hammering) and possible damage to power steering components.
10.
Check the steering wheel for proper position. If necessary, center the steering wheel. For complete details on Diamante steering wheel centering,
refer to Technical Service Bulletin number TSB-91-37A-007, entitled, "STEERING WHEEL CENTERING - PREDELIVERY INSPECTION
PROCEDURE".
11.
Re-check the alignment angle of the front wheels. Adjust, if necessary.
