Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
1. Disable airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Remove front splash shields or extensions.
3. Remove front impact sensor.
4. Inspect front impact sensors as follows:
a. Check frame and sensor brackets for deformities or rust.
b. Check sensor harness for binds, connectors for damage and terminals for deformities.
c. Replace front impact sensors if any dents, cracks or deformation is found.
d. Measure resistance between terminals and ensure that resistance is 1960-2040 ohms.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Perform inspection before installing sensor.
b. Bend wiring harness slightly to remove slack and clip securely by using clip of sensor.
c. Install impact sensor to good contact is made to upper frame surface.
d. Perform POST INSTALLATION INSPECTION.
