SRS Warning Lamp Inspection
When the ignition switch is turned to the On position or the engine is started, the SRS warning lamp will light for about seven seconds, then go Off. If the
lamp operates as specified, the system is functioning properly. If the lamp stays lit more than seven seconds or lights when driving, a system malfunction
or condition is indicated.
SRS Diagnosis Unit (SDU) Inspection
1. Inspect case and brackets for dents, cracks, deformities, or rust. SRS may not activate properly if SDU is improperly installed.
2. Inspect SDU connectors for damaged or deformed terminals.
3. Inspect lock lever for damage or rust.
Steering Wheel, Column & Intermediate Joint
1. Inspect wiring harness, connectors and terminals for damage and deformities.
2. Install air bag module to inspect fit and alignment. Refer to Technician Safety Information for air bag arming and disarming.
3. Inspect steering wheel for noise, binding, difficult operation or excessive freeplay.
Front Wiring Harness & Body Wiring Harness
1. Inspect harness connectors for damaged or deformed terminals.
2. Inspect harness for any crimps or binding.
3. Inspect harness wiring for any fraying or damage.
4. Replace harness or connectors if they show any signs of damage.
