NO.: TSB-94-11-002
DATE: March, 1994
MODEL: 1994 Diamante
SUBJECT:
ELIMINATION OF ENGINE DAMPER
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Engines used on all 1992-93 Diamantes are equipped with a front roll-stopper, rear roll-stopper, and a damper. These components absorb engine
vibration, minimizing engine noise inside the passenger compartment. The front roll-stopper attaches to the front crossmember and front engine mount.
The rear roll-stopper attaches to the rear crossmember and rear engine mount. The damper attaches to the rear crossmember and rear roll-stopper
bracket.
On 1994 Diamantes, the rear roll-stopper was reinforced, making the damper unnecessary. The damper is not installed on 1994 Diamantes; only the front
and rear roll-stoppers are used. Even though the damper is not used on 1994 Diamantes, the damper mounting brackets are still present on the rear
crossmember and rear roll-stopper bracket. This can give the appearance that the damper is missing and should be replaced. When servicing the engine
on a 1994 Diamante, do not install an engine damper. If an engine damper is installed on a 1994 Diamante, engine vibration may actually increase.
