Variable Induction Control Actuator: Description and Operation
Variable Induction Control Servo Location (Non Turbocharged)
Variable Induction Control Valve, Shaft Location
Description
The Variable Induction Control Servo (VICS) is a computer controlled, solenoid operated, vacuum shut-off valve located on the firewall.
Purpose
Two air intake paths are provided in the intake manifold to allow the selection of the intake path most favorable for a given engine speed.
Operation
High torque at low rpm is achieved when the valve is closed (creating a longer intake path). Higher power at high rpm (above 5,000 rpm) is
achieved by opening the induction control valve (creating a shorter intake path).
