Fig. 7 Servicing Strut Assembly
1. Remove, install, disassemble and assemble strut assembly in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 6 and 7, noting the following:
a. Hold spring upper seat using spring seat holder tool No. MB991176, or equivalent, then loosen but do not remove self-locking nut.
b. Using spring compressor body and arm set tools No. MB991237 and MB991238, or equivalents, compress coil spring and remove self-locking
nut.
c. Line up holes in strut assembly spring lower seat with hole in spring upper seat. This is more easily accomplished using a piece of pipe 10
mm x 300 mm.
d. Correctly align both ends of coil spring with grooves in spring seat.
e. Apply multi-purpose grease to bearing portion of strut insulator. Do not allow grease to adhere to insulator's rubber portion.
