About the Eclipse

The Eclipse was a sports coupe made for the 1990 to 2012 model years, named after an unbeaten 18th-century racehorse. The first two generations came from Diamond-Star Motors, Mitsubishi's joint venture with Chrysler in Illinois, and were also sold as the Eagle Talon and (first generation) Plymouth Laser. A convertible, the Spyder, was added in 1996. The third generation used a Chrysler platform shared with the Sebring and Stratus.

What these manuals cover

• 1990–1991 (first generation): the 1.8-litre SOHC four, the 2.0 DOHC (4G63) and the 2.0 turbo, with front- or all-wheel drive.
• 1995–1998 (second generation): the 2.0 DOHC and 2.0 turbo, and the 2.4-litre in the Spyder.
• 2000–2004 (third generation): the 2.4-litre four and the 3.0-litre V6.
• 2006–2012 (fourth generation): the 2.4-litre four (4G69) and the 3.8-litre V6 (6G75).

Tip: the Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser are the same car as the first and second-generation Eclipse.
