Eclipse L4-1795cc 1.8L SOHC (1990)
(6) Uncouple the connector of the idle-speed control servo and secure the idle-speed control plunger at the initial position.
(7) In order to prevent the throttle valve from sticking, open it (half way or more) two or three times and then release it to let it click shut, and
sufficiently loosen the fixed speed adjusting screw.
(8) If the multi-use tester is not used, connect an engine tacho tester.
(9) Start the engine and let it run at idling speed.
(10) Check whether or not the engine rpm is the standard value. If the multi-use tester is used, press code No.22 and read engine rpm.
Basic idling speed: 700±50
NOTE The engine speed may be 20-100 rpm low for a new vehicle [driven about 500 km (300 miles) or less, but adjustment is not necessary.
If engine stalling occurs or the engine speed is low even though the vehicle has been driven about 500 km (330 miles) or more, it is probable that
these are deposits adhered to the throttle valve, so it should be cleaned.
(11) If there is a deviation from the standard value, adjust by using the idle-speed adjustment screw.
CAUTION When making the adjustment by using the idle-speed adjustment screw, use a hexagonal wrench if at all possible; in order to prevent
play caused by backlash, the final adjustment should be made at the screw-in side.
(12) Screw-in the fixed speed adjusting screw until the engine rpm rises; then return the fixed speed adjusting screw to find the point at which the
engine rpm stops decreasing (the "touch point"), and then return the fixed speed adjusting screw an additional one-half turn from the touch point.
(13) Stop the engine.
(14) Switch ON the ignition switch (but do not start the engine) and check to be sure that the output Voltage of the throttle-position sensor is the
standard value.
If the multi-use tester is used, press code No.14 and measure the output Voltage of the throttle position sensor.
Standard value: 0.48-0.52V
NOTE
1. If there is a deviation from the standard value, loosen the throttle-position sensor installation screw, and then turn the throttle-position sensor to
