Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Description and Operation
PURPOSE/OPERATION
The idle air control motor on the throttle body is composed of the stepper motor and pintle. According to signals sent from the engine control
module, the stepper motor rotates to extend or retract the pintle, thus controlling the flow rate through the throttle valve bypass. The stepper motor
is designed to rotate a constant rotary angle (step angle: 150°) per pulse signal, thus rotating clockwise and counter-clockwise over an angle which
corresponds to the number of step signals sent from the engine control module.
