1. Open the top enough to access the front rail upper surface (photo left below).

2. Clean the machined surface on the front rail at the most forward pivot joint with isopropyl alcohol.

3. Apply one shim from the service kit (6559A151) to the machined surface as shown in the lower photo. Keep the edges parallel to the casting with no

overlap to the outboard edge (photo right). To ensure full bonding do not touch the adhesive while handling the shim.

Press down on the shim with a roller or similar tool to wet-out the adhesive and promote full adhesion.

Repeat for the other side.

Proceed to Top Cover Installation and Operation Check on page 6.

PROCEDURE 2 -  ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES

Adjust the control link reducing contact between the top cover and rear rail garnish.

1. Open the top far enough to access the control link attachment to the #2 bow (photo left below).

2. Loosen two attaching screws and move the control link outboard as far as it will travel (photo right).

3. Tighten the screws to 26-32 Nm (19-23 ft. lbs) while holding the control link outboard.

4. Repeat for the opposite side.
