AFTERMARKET ACCESSORIES INSTALLATION
ACCESSORIES INSTALLATION
PURPOSE
This bulletin contains important information regarding your installation of aftermarket accessories that have not been approved by Mitsubishi Motors for
use on Mitsubishi vehicles. Be advised that Mitsubishi Motors will not indemnify its dealers for any liabilities arising out of the installation of
non-approved accessories. Be further advised that vehicle safety features may be compromised by the installation of non-approved aftermarket
accessories. Such accessories include, but are not limited to, the following:
AFTERMARKET SUNROOFS
Mitsubishi vehicles have enhanced safety features, including a highly rigid passenger compartment and floor structure that resist deformation under
frontal and side impacts. Vehicles without factory-installed sunroofs have a high-strength roof bow built into the roof panel. Additional pads and other
reinforcements are built into the roof panel for increased safety in an accident.
Mitsubishi Motors strongly advises against installing an aftermarket sunroof. Installation of an aftermarket sunroof could require removal or cutting of
the roof reinforcement bow, which would compromise the structural rigidity and safety features of the passenger compartment.
AFTERMARKET SEAT COVERS (INCLUDING LEATHER)
Advanced SRS air bags and side air bags use sensors installed in the front of the vehicle and in the front seats. Mitsubishi Motors strongly advises
against installing aftermarket seat covers, including leather seats, seat-mounted entertainment systems, or aftermarket seat storage units. Such devices
could impair air bag deployment. Aftermarket seat covers could interfere with the proper operation of the advanced SRS system and could interfere with
the deployment of the side air bags.
Advise customers to never hang anything, such as a storage unit, on a front seatback, as it could affect proper operation of the SRS system.
AFTERMARKET WHEELS AND TIRES
Vehicles equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) have special inflation pressure sensors. For these vehicles, Mitsubishi Motors strongly
advises against installing the following aftermarket items:

Aftermarket wheels may prevent the pressure sensors from operating, possibly damaging the sensors and causing faulty operation of the TPMS
system.

Tires that are not the same size and aspect ratio as the originally equipped tires may result in faulty operation of the TPMS system due to different
inflation specifications.

Non-OEM tires may interfere with the TPMS signal and cause faulty system operation.
