DEFLECTION ANGLE COMPENSATION
COMPASS CALIBRATION
Under certain circumstances, as during a long distance cross country trip, it will be necessary to adjust for compass variance. Compass variance is the
difference between earth's magnetic north and true geographic north.
If not adjusted to account for compass variance, compass could give false readings.
ADJUST FOR COMPASS VARIANCE
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
2. Press the "H" switch and the "M" switch simultaneously.
3. Release the "H" switch and the "M" switch simultaneously within 10 seconds. This will switch the multi-center display to the compass setting
mode, and "COMPASS" and "-- --" will flash.
NOTE: When any of the following conditions is met during the compass setting mode, the multi-center display cancels the compass setting
mode and returns to the normal display:
- The switch is not operated for 10 seconds or more.
- The vehicle speed is 3mph (5km/h) or more.
- The ignition switch is turned to the "OFF" position.
