SUBJECT:
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT - SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN
PURPOSE
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) is voluntarily recalling certain 1999-2001 Galant, 2000-2001 Eclipse, and 2001 Eclipse Spyder
vehicles to replace the automatic transmission oil cooler hose assemblies.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The manufacturing process for the automatic transmission oil cooler hoses allowed a weakness to be present in the internal hose reinforcement. Over
time this weakness can cause leakage of the automatic transmission fluid (ATF). ATF leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This recall bulletin includes all vehicles listed below, both 2.4 L4 and 3.0 V-6, equipped with automatic transaxle.
1999-2001 Galant built between May 1998 and November 2000
2000-01 Eclipse built between May 1999 and November 2000
2001 Eclipse Spyder built between January and November 2000
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
A letter will be sent to all owners of affected vehicles telling them to bring their vehicle to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the automatic
transmission oil cooler hose assembly replaced.
