Windshield - Wind Noise

SUBJECT:
WINDSHIELD WIND NOISE

PURPOSE

Some vehicles may experience wind noise (whistle) coming from the A-pillar on the right side of the vehicle. The noise is caused by air flowing through
a gap between the glass moulding and the A-pillar.

Apply weatherstripping adhesive into the gap between the glass moulding and the A-pillar to eliminate the wind noise.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
1995-97 Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder models

PROCEDURE

1.

Test drive the vehicle to determine location of wind noise. If wind noise is at the A-pillar, continue with Step 2.

2.

Use isopropyl alcohol to clean dirt from the A-Pillar and its moulding.

3.

Gently lift up the outer lip of the glass moulding. Apply an even bead of weatherstripping adhesive 3M 08008 or equivalent into the gap between
the pillar and the moulding. Start at the base of the moulding and continue to the area where it curves.

4.

Push the moulding down to ensure it is sealed securely onto the glass.

5.

Remove any excess adhesive.

6.

Apply removable tape over the moulding and A-Pillar and allow the adhesive to set undisturbed for the length of time specified in the
manufacturer's instructions.

7.

Remove the tape and inspect to ensure the moulding fits tightly to the glass.

8.

Test drive the vehicle to confirm the wind noise is eliminated.
