Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Power Steering Gear

1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. On models with electronically controlled suspension, remove stabilizer bar.
3. Disconnect tie rod from knuckle, using a suitable tool.
4. Drain power steering fluid into appropriate container, then disconnect and cap pressure and return hoses.
5. Disconnect joint assembly from gearbox, then the solenoid valve connector.
6. Remove center member rear attaching bolt and exhaust pipe hanger from crossmember.
7. Remove front roll stopper bolt, then disconnect and lower front end front exhaust pipe.
8. Remove stay at left side, then press rear side of center member downward.
9. Move rack to the right, then remove steering gear from crossmember.

10. Tilt steering gear downward, then remove from vehicle.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
