Sound Proofing / Insulation: Locations
Foaming Material Usage Locations
FOAMING MATERIAL USAGE LOCATIONS
The pillars and roof rails have been filled with foaming material in order to reduce columnar sound resonance. In addition, highly-rigid foaming material
has been adopted for the pillar joints where a high degrees of rigidity is required, in order to provide additional cross-sectional rigidity.
Points to note when working with panels in foaming material usage locations:
The foaming material may ignite if it is heated, so the following points must be observed without fail.
1. Do not use a gas burner or other similar equipment to heat the areas where foaming material has been used.
2. When cuffing the areas where foaming material has been used, use equipment (such as a pneumatic saw) which does not produce heat to make the
cuts.
3. If any foaming material is remaining at the cutting locations (on the body side), clean off all foaming material form around the area before carrying
out welding.
