Disconnect pressure hose from rear oil pump and install power steering oil pressure gauge adapter tool No. MB990993-01 or equivalent, Fig. 4.

Connect a suitable rubber hose to tool and place other end into a 2 quart graduated container.

Raise and support vehicle.
4.
Start engine, place transaxle in Drive position then slowly raise vehicle speed to 31 mph and hold, measuring discharge flow volume for 30
seconds, Fig. 5. Ensure vehicle is properly supported for this step. Use care when working around moving tire.
5.
If the discharge flow volume is not as specified in the SPECIFICATIONS/PRESSURES, VACUUM, AND TEMPERATURE
SPECIFICATIONS/FOUR WHEEL STEERING PUMP SPECIFICATIONS, the rear oil pump should be replaced.
