Power Steering Gear

Fig. 5  Power Steering Gear Replacement

When replacing power steering gearbox, refer to Fig. 5.

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. Disconnect return hose and drain power steering fluid into appropriate container.
3. Remove shaft assembly and gearbox attaching bolt.
4. Remove tie rod end ball joint from knuckle, using a suitable tool.
5. Remove power steering feed hose, then the dust cover band.
6. Remove gear housing clamp attaching bolts, then the gear housing clamps.
7. Remove gear housing mounting rubber, then the steering gear assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
