About the Montero

Montero is the North American and Spanish name for the Mitsubishi Pajero, a large SUV made from 1981 to 2021 and sold in Britain as the Shogun. It used Mitsubishi's heavy-duty Super-Select four-wheel drive, won its class on its first Paris–Dakar Rally in 1983 and went on to many Dakar wins. The Montero was dropped in North America in 2006. The Montero Sport is a different, smaller SUV based on the Triton pickup.
