MODEL 1984-85 Montero

PURPOSE This bulletin describes a field fix for gaps between the center pillar trim panel and the side roofrail rear trim strip on 1984-85 Montero
models.

DESCRIPTION If the center pillar trim panel becomes disengaged from contact with the inner roof rail (see crosssection, Fig. 1), it may become locally
distorted, and a gap will appear between it and the side roof rail trim strip.

CORRECTIVE ACTION The appearance of the trim can be improved by installing four trim clips (Fig. 2) in the locations shown in Fig. 3. The clips fit
into four 4.5 mm (3/16") holes drilled through the trim panels and the steel inner roof rail. To prevent the drill from going too far, use a drill bit fitted
with a suitable depth gauge-wrap with masking tape or crimp a piece of copper tubing over the bit so that only 1/2" is exposed. Top the trim clips into
place with a rubber hammer.
