Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair
WITH 4 WHEEL DRIVE
1.
Remove stabilizer bar from lower arm and stabilizer link assembly.
2.
Inspect stabilizer bar, bushings, and stabilizer link assembly, and repair or replace as necessary.
3.
Install stabilizer bar, noting the following:
a. When installing stabilizer link assembly to No. 1 crossmember, tighten self locking nut so that distance from base of nut to top of stud is
.63-.71 inch on 1984 models or .24-.31 inch on 1985-88 models.
b. When installing ends of stabilizer bar to lower arms, tighten self locking nuts so that distance from base of nut to end of bolt is .63-.71 inch
on 1984 models or .24-.31 inch on 1985-88 models.
c. Torque stabilizer bracket attaching nuts to 6-8 ft. lbs.
