1.
Drain oil from differential gear housing, then disconnect propeller shaft.
2.
Pull out both the right and left driveshafts at least 2.8 inches.
3.
Remove differential gear housing attaching nuts and the gear carrier. Lightly tap gear carrier with rubber mallet while being removed.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Apply gear oil to the bearing and gear sliding surfaces and suitable sealant to axle housing and packing. Install
packing as shown, Fig. 22, then install differential carrier assembly to rear axle housing and torque attaching bolts to 18-22 ft. lbs.
