PURPOSE This bulletin is to inform you of an improvement in the rear bearing retainer in the KM145 manual transmission found in the 2.6L Montero
and 4WD Truck.
DETAILS OF CHANGE A heat treatment to improve resistance to wear has been applied to the rear bearing retainer beginning December, 1988. The
location of the rear bearing retainer is shown below. If you are replacing the rear bearing retainer on any KM145 transmission, use the new heat treated
one.
