Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
1. Remove timing belt as described under Timing Belt, then remove crankshaft sprocket, position sensor, sensing blade and spacer.
2. Remove key from keyway, then separate oil seal from case as follows:
a. Cut out a small portion of crankshaft oil seal lip.
b. Cover tip of a suitable screwdriver with a cloth, then insert into seal cutout and pry away from oil pump case.
3. Reverse procedure to install. Drive seal in until flush with surface of oil pump case using seal installation tool No. MD998717, or equivalent.
