STEP 1. Check the input signal (by using pulse check).
Check the input signal from the driver's side door switch by using scan tool MB991958.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or
disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
1. Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.
2. Check that the tone alarm of scan tool MB991958 sounds when the driver's side door is opened.
Q: Does the tone alarm of scan tool MB991958 sound when the input signal enters?
YES: Replace the ETACS-ECU. Check that the malfunctions are eliminated.
NO: Go to Step 3.
STEP 2. Check the input signal from the driver's side door switch (by using a voltmeter).
