Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
Without ABS
CAUTION: Use the specified brake fluid. The specified brake fluid conforms to DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications. Don't use a mixture of the specified
brake fluid and another non-specified fluid. Be sure to filter/strain the brake fluid being added to the master cylinder reservoir tank. Debris may damage
the hydraulic unit.
1. Start the engine and bleed the air in the sequence shown in the figure.
2. Pump the brake pedal 3-4 times. With the pedal depressed, have a helper momentarily open the first bleeder screw. Do not release the brake pedal
until the bleeder screw is tightened.
3. Repeat 2-3 times and move on to the next bleeder screw in the illustration.
4. Repeat until all air is purged from the hydraulic system.
