Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection

TENSION CHECK

Check the belt tension by using a belt tension gauge or by applying 98 N (22 lbs.) of force to the belt midway between the pulleys as shown in the
illustration, and measure the deflection. The values are as shown in the illustration.
Tension:  392 - 588 N (87 - 130 lbs.)
Deflection (Reference Value):

A:  5.0 - 7.0 mm (0.20 - 0.27 inch)
B:  7.5 - 9.5 mm (0.30 - 0.37 inch) 

NOTE: 
A: Measure between the cooling fan pulley and the crankshaft pulley.
B: Measure between the generator pulley and the cooling fan pulley.
