LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL SHUDDER WHEN TURNING
PURPOSE
Affected vehicles may exhibit a shudder when making turns at low speeds. To minimize this condition, add limited slip additive to the differential as
described in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1997 Montero Sport four-wheel drive models
PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the differential fill plug and drain plug. Allow the differential to drain for approximately two minutes. Reinstall the drain plug.
2.
Add one bottle of Mitsubishi Limited Slip Differential Additive.
3.
Refill differential with Mitsubishi DiaQueen LSD Oil or equivalent. Reinstall fill plug.
4.
Test drive the vehicle for approximately three miles. To ensure that the additive is delivered to the area between the friction elements in the
differential, make at least four 900 turns and two figure-8 turns at low speed.
5.
If the shudder is still evident, remove about four ounces of oil from the differential, then add one additional bottle of Mitsubishi Limited Slip
Differential Additive.
6.
Test drive the vehicle again as described in Step 4.
! CAUTION
If the shudder persists even after adding two bottles of additive, contact your regional Tech Line for instructions. Do not add more differential additive
