Ignition Switch: Testing and Inspection

Harness Test

Measure the supply voltage of the inhibitor switch
1. Disconnect the ECU and inhibitor switch connectors.
2. Check the voltage at inhibitor switch connector terminal 11, with the ignition switch in both the "On" and "Start" positions.

Voltage:

System Voltage.

Measure the input voltage of the ECU
1. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector.
2. Check the voltage at inhibitor switch connector terminal 11, with the ignition switch in  the "On" position.

Voltage:

System Voltage.

3. Connect the inhibitor switch connector and disconnect the ECU connector.
5. Place the transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL.
6. Turn the key to the START position.
7. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage between ECU harness terminal 8 and ground.

Voltage:

8 or more volts.
