Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly and intake manifold stay.
3. Remove EGR valve (California models), then the speedometer cable.
4. Remove starter cover.
5. Disconnect starter cables.
6. Remove starter mounting bolts, then the starter.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Torque starter mounting bolts to 22 ft. lbs.
