Torque the tie rod inner sockets to 58-72 ft.lb. and bend the lock plates over onto the flats on the rack.

NOTE:

Perform step 32 ONLY if new boots are installed.

Slide the boots onto the tie rod inner sockets and install the dust cover clamps (small O-rings). Install tie rod outer sockets. Make sure distance
between boot and socket is as shown (Figure 29), then torque locknut to 58-72 ft.lb.

Measure pinion rotating torque with an in.lb. torque wrench and Pinion Torque Adapter J26364 (should be less than 16 in.lbs.) (Figure 30).
Measure rack sliding force with Spring Scale J35999 (should be less than 42 lb. at center of rack) (Figure 31).
