Install the pinion housing in Power Steering Stand J28817.
10.
Coat the new pinion oil seal with ATF and press in place with Pinion Seal Installer J28527 (Figure 18). Install the seal with the spring side up.

Coat rack piston and O-ring on inner tube with ATF, coat rack teeth with grease, and slide rack and inner tube into the pinion housing.

Carefully twist the inner tube assembly to seat the O-ring in the pinion housing.
13.
Install two new O-rings o the cylinder assembly and coat with ATF (Figure 19).

Slide the cylinder assembly onto the rack and into the pinion housing. Tighten the lock nut and torque to 58-80 ft.lbs. using Cylinder Lock Nut
Wrench J28820.
15.
Wrap cellophane tape around the sharp edges on the end of the rack (Figure 20).
16.
Coat the oil seal in the new cylinder end housing with ATF and slide the rack bushing into place in the new cylinder end housing (Figure 20).
