6. Look at the position of the lock rod in relation to the square hole in the door handle mounting plate.  An improperly positioned lock rod will be too

short and will line up to the left of center of the square hole when the lock rod is moved into the rearward position (see Figure 1).

7. If the lock rod is too short and does not line up with the center of the square hole, slightly lengthen the rod by straightening/bending it (see Figure

2) until it is properly lined up with the center of the square hole in the door handle mounting plate (see Figure 3).

8. Reconnect the lock rod and door handle rod to the inside door handle.

9. Lubricate if necessary with a silicone spray lubricant to ensure the lock rod and door handle rod move freely.

10. Reconnect the inside door handle to the mounting plate.

11. Replace the door finisher.
